Using this website

This notice covers the Mirkin Vision website. Our Notice of Privacy Practices explains how we use and protect patient health information.

You can read our pages without creating an account. This website does not install advertising pixels or analytics scripts. Our site search runs in your browser; its search words appear in the page address and browser history. Please do not enter personal medical information into site search.

When your browser requests a page, it sends technical information, such as your IP address, browser details, and requested address, to the hosting service. Hosting services may keep access and security logs to deliver and protect the website.

Cookies & saved preferences

The public pages do not set sign-in cookies. The private staff area uses an essential sign-in cookie after an authorized team member signs in. It expires after sign-out or the session limit and is not used for advertising. The website uses your browser’s local storage to remember a light or dark theme when you choose one, and to remember your choice about optional Google content.

• Color theme: stays on this browser until you clear site data or choose “Use device setting” in the footer.
• Google content preference: stays on this browser for up to 180 days. After it expires, the default automatic loading resumes.

These choices do not create an account or identify you to Mirkin. If browser storage is unavailable, a choice works only for the current page. You can clear saved site data through your browser settings.

The private staff area stores account details, protected password hashes, security records, website revisions, and a history of administrator changes on the server. These records support access control and recovery; they do not contain a database of patient contact-form messages.

Google maps & reviews

The Google map and review panel load automatically unless you turn them off in Privacy choices. The map connects your browser to Google, which may receive your IP address, device information, and website origin, and may use cookies or similar technologies.

Our server reads publicly available Google review information and sends review text, reviewer names, source links, and ratings to this website. Profile pictures and attached review photos, when available, load from Google image servers and may share your IP address and device information with Google. Owner replies are shown when supplied. Review text is displayed by our own code; the review panel does not load the Google Cloud API or a Google review iframe. The server saves a copy of these public reviews to reduce repeat requests and keep them available during temporary Google outages. It checks for updates regularly and stops displaying a saved copy after seven days without a successful update. This copy does not contain visitor information. Google’s handling of information it receives is described in its Privacy Policy and cookie information, which apply to the Google features on this website. Maps and review content are also subject to Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service.

Turning Google content off prevents future embedded loads. It cannot withdraw information already sent to Google or delete cookies Google previously placed. Manage those through your browser or Google account. Links to Google still work when embedded content is off; opening a link takes you to Google.

Your privacy choices

Choose whether Google maps and reviews may load inside this website. Booking, phone, text, and directions links remain available either way.

Appointments, shopping & messages

Zocdoc, our online store, Calendly, social platforms, and other linked websites have their own privacy notices and terms. Those providers receive information you give them after you follow a link. We do not process appointment forms or payments on this website.

Ordinary text messages are not a secure patient portal. Please call us to arrange medical-record requests or discuss how to send sensitive information. Do not use the website or text messages for an emergency.

Contact form messages

The contact form is for general office questions. It collects your name, email address, optional phone number, selected topic, message, and permission to reply by email. Do not send prescriptions, medical records, diagnoses, dates of birth, insurance numbers, or payment information. It is not a secure patient portal and is not monitored for emergencies.

Direct sending is available only after the practice approves the email delivery setup. When “Send message” is available, our website server sends the request to the practice at mirkinvc@gmail.com through that configured service. The website does not save a separate message database or write message contents to application logs. Copies may remain in the practice mailbox and the email provider’s systems according to their retention and backup settings. We use your request to respond and help with your question; submitting the form does not subscribe you to marketing.

If the form offers “Continue in email app,” your browser opens a blank email addressed to the practice. Your form entries are not copied into the email or its link. Write only a general office question and send it from your own email app; the website has not delivered it. Your email provider’s privacy terms apply.

To limit spam, the server briefly keeps a scrambled identifier derived from the connection’s IP address and an attempt count in memory. These records expire after 15 minutes. The form does not add tracking cookies or store a draft in your browser. Please call us to arrange a secure way to share records or discuss sensitive information.
